Holly's cottage is ideally located, set apart from the other houses in the tiny township of Lonbain. The feeling at Holly's house is one of splendid isolation away from the hustle and bustle of busy life. There is a a terrace overlooking the sea so that guests can sit outside on warm summer days and enjoy the views and the peace and tranquillity of the Applecross peninsula. The terrace includes a table and chairs for relaxing in the sun or for al fresco dining a barbecue is available.
The cottage benefits from a private parking place directly outside the house. There is access to the Lonbain beach (shingle) and adjacent coastal walks. All around are the ruins of a bygone age including the ruins of the Lonbain street which was featured in the film about St Kilda "Ill Fares The Land". Also nearby is the old thatched croft "Duncans House" one of the last cottages of its type in the area and in use until quite recently.
The house is on a working croft that produces fruit and vegetables during the summer months. Visitors are free to explore the croft, the ruins of Lonbain township and the coastline but please respect the Scottish Outdoor Access Code which can found here: http://www.snh.org.uk.
